Missing Tire Pressure Fob?

Question for you guys who have received job 2 SRW F-350’s. Did you get the TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitor System)? My truck is an 11400 GVW truck. The light in the dash comes on during start up and goes off. Do I have the system? I did not receive a Tire Pressure Fob when I purchased the truck. I called the dealer to report the missing Tire Pressure Fob. The dealer is looking into it. After reading the “What’s New Post” I found it is standard on F-250's/F-350's. People on this site have talked about it. Did you get the Tire Pressure Fob?

Re: Missing Tire Pressure Fob?

What good would a fob do for the tire pressure? If the SuperDuty TPMS is anything like what's on my Expedition it will send a warning message on the message center whenever it senses a drop in tire pressure.

Re: Missing Tire Pressure Fob?

Yes, you need a fob. The fob is used to tell the computer which wheel is where. Bug the crap out of your dealer. I didn't / haven't got mine yet. My dealer was clueless. The plant probably gave you a DRW manual packet, I think that is what happened to me. Let me know how it goes.

Bobby, if you read this do you know who I can call to get the stinking $18 fob that I payed $50k plus for a truck that had it? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Pages 226 through 232 of the 2008 F-250/350/450/550 Owner's Guide cover the TPMS system and procedure (yup, 7 pages). The Owner's Guide calls the fob thingy a "TPMS reset tool". It also says that it is "to reset your TPMS after tire rotation. The tool is located with your Owner’s Guide materials." I've only recently ordered my truck, but there's a picture in the Owner's Guide that shows the fob (sorry, "TPMS reset tool") in a slot in the back of the zipper pouch holding the manual. I assume it's not there?

Re: Missing Tire Pressure Fob?

You guys would be proud, I stayed up late reading the owners manual the night I pick up the Truck. I did see the picture of the fob in the owner’s manual. That’s what got me worried. The next morning I searched the truck with no luck. The owner’s manual was not in the truck when I picked it up, it was on the salesmen’s desk. It may have been switched with a DRW truck or fallen out in the office. Today when I called the salesmen he said the owners manuals change all the time call the service department. The service department said they will call me in the morning.

Re: Missing Tire Pressure Fob?

Mine came with it, it is a 10,700 truck, if you have the light, you have TPMS. Mine was in the glove box, it's little and easy to miss. You need this for when you rotate the tires for the guy who asked why we have it, it's an issue because we have different tire pressures front and rear, and if you rotate tires, it will think your fronts are low wheny ou air them down from 80 psi.

Learn something new everyday. Sounds like something just begging to be lost or misplaced when you need it.

Re: Missing Tire Pressure Fob?

All single rear wheel F350's and down will have TPMS
Dual rear wheel F350's and above do not have TPMS

Re: Missing Tire Pressure Fob?

Not all trucks are being shipped with the Ford TPMS Reset Tool (Fob). It depends on what the factory tire pressure requirements are. Only trucks that have different front and rear tire pressures are shipped with the fob. Trucks that have the same pressure front and rear do not get the fob. Reason being, trucks with that require the same pressure front and rear do NOT need to re-train the sensors after rotation.

So dose this monitoring system not denote what tire is loosing air? like most others do? It was my understanding that TPMS systems also tells you which tire is having issues.

/me goes to read the shop manual again.

EDIT: I geuss it is a dumb system it dosn't tell what tire is going down.

Yea, it does not tell you much other than one of the tires is low.

As for needing the fob for airing up and down, well that will not help you for that. The fob will not make the low pressure warning go away if you air your tires down below the low pressure set point. The only thing that will make the warning go away is to have the proper air pressure.

Re: Missing Tire Pressure Fob?

I think if you have the fob, you can set whatever setpoint you want.
