Need help - 4x4 and 3.73 axle ratio DRW

I'm doing some preliminary order specs with my local Ford dealer. He advised me today that a F-350 6.0L diesel DRW cannot be ordered with 3.73 axle ratio with a 4x4 option. He says that 4.10 is the only available option with the 4x4. This does not jive with everything I've seen in Ford's literature and their online "Build a Truck" system. Before I call him back tomorrow I would appreciate your input on this subject.

FYI, I prefer the 3.73 as almost all of my 5th wheel towing will be in the flatlands and the truck will be only vehicle, a "daily driver". Am I wrong here? Thanks.

You may be confused with the Fx4 option. The 3.73 is not available with that option.

He says that 4.10 is the only available option with the 4x4.

He's wrong, unless your definition of 4x4 includes limited slip rear end or the FX4 Off Road pkg.

The F-350 DRW 4x4 can be ordered either with a 3.73 open axle, or a 4.10 limited slip rear axle.

The FX4 pkg requires limited slip, so that rules out the 3.73 ratio in combo with the FX4 pkg.

Surf to www.sunrisefordfleet.com and download the official Ford order guide for the 2003 F-350 Super Duty Pickup. All the ifs, ands, and buts of ordering are included. Pay attention to detail, and be sure you're looking at the DRW pages before you fall on your sword about something. For example, pages 5, 6, and 14 are SRW only, so skip those pages.

Re: Need help - 4x4 and 3.73 axle ratio DRW

What Smokey said

I tried ordering the same combo. Even though you can get an LS 3.73 with a SRW, you cannot for whatever reason get that combo in a DRW.

Chalk this one up with ext paint color combos of the KR, Lariat and XLT variants. And the 6sp manual on an XLT Sport. And....the list goes on and on, for whatever reason. Can't.
