Dillinger, first off welcome to the most truely excellent ford-diesel web site!
First: you might not be able to get a 2000 if you order this week, but then again, you might.

The delay in of itself probably won't be the problem, it will be dealer allocation and Ford commodity availability.
Second: Depends on what you consider an "extra". AIC will probably not hold up your order. Things like PSD or 4x4 or tranny (auto or manual?) or SC, etc (ie, the big ticket items), can cause your order to be scheduled earlier or later into the factory. If you haven't already, read this:

Allocation (and at this time of year, commodity availability) will be key to your getting a 2000 vs 2001.
Even though you feel you will be getting a good deal from your friend, shop around and compare price ($$ over invoice is what I'd be looking at) and ask about dealer allocation. Also ask what priority your dealer is willing to place the order at and verify via DORA. These will confirm for yourself if you're getting a good deal through your friend (or if you can do better on price and delivery someplace else). (In that case, you gotta decide which is more important, the truck or the friend

).
