Placed My order, Got a VIN, Now what?

I placed my order a few weeks back, I finally got the VIN number. My dealer had no further info. Can anyone fill in the blanks?

VIN # 1FDAF57R08EC97527

Re: Placed My order, Got a VIN, Now what?

The only legal away for you to keep current on the status of your order is to get the info from your dealerperson. The dealerperson has access to the on-line Ford vehicle ordering system. That system contains everything the dealer knows about your order. As the order moves through the various stages of being assembled and being transported to the dealership, Ford updates the order status in that system.

I would call or stop by the dealership once a week and have my dealerperson do an inquiry against the order number to determine the current order status, print out the screen, and give it to me. The status will be in Greek, but we have a translator in the '99-up FAQ here on TheDieselStop, under "during your order". http://www.thedieselstop.com/faq/199...rderDuring.htm

When the status changes to "rail car assignment", then in some cases you can go to the railroad company website and trace the rail car across the country. Especially for those "out west", the railroad will be Burlington Northern Santa Fe, and the railcar will first go to a mixing yard in Kansas City, then head on out west.

Also, after the truck has been blended they will post your window sticker. Here is my thread as a sample.

That's shorthand for "order has been submitted to the assembly plant". On the list of status in the '99-up FAQ, that's the one that begins "Submitted to Plant...". In other words, Ford HQ (Vehicle Order Processsing Center in Michigan) has ordered one of the two SuperDuty assembly plants to build your truck. Right now, your plant is probably the Kentucky Truck Plant (KTP). If you have the full VIN, the plant code is in the middle. However, there are only two plants that build superduty pickups, KTP and another one near Mexico City. So you can tell by the "country" code in the VIN. If your VIN begins with "1", then your assembly plant is KTP. If it begins with "3", then your plant is the one near Mexico City.
