Rear Stabilizer bar

I was under my Truck looking it over and I found out it has the rear double-U-shaped stabilizer bar installed. The thing is, I only ordered the trailer tow package, not the camper package or heavy suspension package for the F250 4X2.

Looks like I got something for free from Ford

Once again, Canadian pickups may be different than those for delivery in the USA.

I crawled under mine [with only the trailer-tow pkg] and there is nothing that could be confused with a rear stabilizer bar.

So maybe because you're in Canada?

Or because you have the hand-shaker tranny? (Did you get the 60D pkg?)

Or maybe it's a running change that Ford hasn't told us about?

Or maybe you got something for nuttin?

Re: Rear Stabilizer bar

Smokey, I have the same questions!

I had ordered my truck just before the 60D option came out. The dealer then called me a couple of days later and said I qualified for the 60D. I did not get the full 60D as I did not want the running boards, privacy glass or the chairs. I then got a credit for the options I chose, (see sig with the 265 R16 75 BSW tire upgrade)

Actually the only reason I got the TT package was for the front swaybar as the 1999 brochure and the Ford website said it was an option for the 4x2, and the dealer said it was not. I then ordered the Trailer tow package for $374 and I got alot more value out of it. I am glad I got the trailer tow package. Other than that, my truck is a stock 4X2.

That's why I'm surprised that my axle (tagged 409H) has a swaybar attached to it. At first I thought it was a part of the brake load balancing system, but it not. It is a 3/4" double-U-shaped bar clamped via a rubber bushing to the front of the rear axle and attached via a linkage directly to the frame, just like the front swaybar.

Re: Rear Stabilizer bar

I have the trailer towing package and 406H rear end and also have the rear stabilizer bar, although it is not near as big as the front!
