Well, I guess the rumors came true
As most of you know, I have a 2003 6.0L PSD on order. My truck was scheduled to be built the week of 11/4/02. Just for kicks tonight, I pulled up the Ford Concepts system from my home computer expecting to see a rail car number or even just the status showing "Produced" and what did I see, a new build week. My truck is now showing a build week of 12/02/02
I have looked and looked on fdealer and haven't been able to find a specific reason as to what is going on. I just browsed the 6.0L PSD forum and seen that injectors are being changed out. I will be making a call to OPC tomorrow morning and will report here what I find out.
This Sucks!!!!

You're right, this does suck. You would think Ford would be trying to settle the rumors and let the dealers know what is going on with your orders. Instead we're guessing as to what is going on. I guess some dealers should start calling the VOPC and speak with a manager as to what the problems actually are. If your's has been pushed back a month, I dread those for King Ranch.

Sorry, but it is so. Back to square one I guess. Your build week, along with several others, is showing TBD at this time.
Just for the heck of it, I ran an OASIS on my VIN to see if it may just be an error in the Ford Database, but it's showing my truck never got built either!

I've gotta tell you--and I thought this would never happen--my mind has started to wander over to the other companies who are actually building trucks for a living. I've been waiting since July for my truck. I can't wait much longer. I may wind up on a GM or DC lot this weekend.
Of course--on the bright side--maybe if they ever do decide to build these trucks there'll be some decent incentives in place. Ford has certainly exhausted most of the DISincentives they can think of.
Does anybody know where I can find a truckaholic meeting. ("Hi, my name is Low_n_Slow, and I've been waiting six months....blah, blah, blah...")

I agree with Duncan and Low on this, I stuck with Ford cause of the "D" plan saving me almost 10,000.00. I know I have been bothersome asking questions and all, but I find it hard to believe there is so much silence going on at the plants and with Ford HQ. I know the injectors are an issue, but if they fail at 70,000 miles, then they replace them with the newer models in production or do a recall.
I have searched all over Ford's sites, and internationals, nothing is there on production delays or injector problems other than what the rumors are flying. I have had my truck on order since august, you guy's a heck of alot longer. I think someone really screwed the pooch on this one. 7.3L's aren't being made, the 6.0L's are falling out of productional status and were not being told a thing from Ford HQ. I think they need to just come out and say, hey guy's your truck is being delayed a month for commodities, injectors, supply problems, or production concerns or something. Or better yet, build the damn truck already!

"The best of all governments is that which teaches us to govern ourselves, for the goverment is us; we are the government, you and I."
The problem is, if you issue a press release saying "we're delaying production while we work on injector issues" your competitors (and the Dodge and Chevy fanboys) hop all over it:
-- "I hear all 6.0's come with faulty injectors." (even though the whole reason for the delay is to make that statement untrue!)
-- "Ford isn't going to sell a diesel pickup this year." (duh)
-- "You better buy this Dodge on the lot because there's no telling when you might be able to get a diesel Ford." (partly true, except that some of us think the new Ford is worth waiting for!)
Right now if you are Joe or Jane Average and you go to a Ford dealer and order a diesel truck, you're told it could be until January until you get it, which is probably true even before these delays. You accept your fate and wait for the call from the dealer. If you open up a newspaper and see "FORD DIESEL TRUCKS ON INDEFINITE HOLD!" then you probably never even go to the Ford dealer to order that truck, even though it would still probably be just January when it came in.
Up to a point, it's far better to just fix the problem and get on with life a few weeks behind schedule than to make a big deal about it. These sorts of startup delays happen all the time, with everything. It's this darn internet, and all of us darn impatient purchasers that spread the news of every tiny change in the plan, and make it seem like a bigger deal.

Ooo, wouldn't it be funny (in a cruel sort of way...) if the 11/4 trucks got pushed back a month to get back on schedule, while everyone else stayed on schedule (assuming they're finally ready to start this week)? In other words, you perturb one week's worth of truck purchasers massively, instead of *everyone* a little bit. And Bobby ends up not being the first one with a truck after all. Ouch. (Well, I was rooting for Yoda all along anyway!)
To be honest, if someone doesn't buy my X soon, I'm going to start hoping my order gets delayed! Come on, someone, make me an offer!

[/ QUOTE ] Good point! We on this site, in the aggregate, probably know more about what's going on than any single individual you could name. We have TOO MUCH information--none of which is really supposed to be public in the first place. If I hadn't stumbled onto this site, I would have bought a 7.3 months ago--and I still wouldn't have a clue about the 6.0. Ignorance is bliss, I suppose....

I do hope that Low_n_Slow lives on the first floor. We all seem to be in the same Blue Oval Boat. I'm willing to wait. I was told this week was the build week but hey.... Nothing I can do because no matter where I went, I'd have a truck made to my liking. So no matter who was building it, I still be waiting. Hang in there all. Good things come to those who wait.

frobozz -- That is exactly what happened with the 2003 Expedition. Approximately 14,000 early build units were held for an extensive quality inspection. Units scheduled 8 to 12 weeks later were released immediately and arrived at dealerships well in advance of the original orders. I believe our initial 2003 Expedition was held for 10 weeks.
The status of our two initial 6.0's is as follows: 3EB36189 (W31) TEMP DELAY, 3EB36716 (W21) SCHEDULED 11/11. Both of these units originally had a build week of 11/4.
The status of our subsequent 6.0's is as follows: 3EB47918 (X21) TEMP DELAY, 3EB56933 (W21) SUBMITTED TO PLANT 12/2, 3EB63140 (W21) TEMP DELAY.
