searching for truth

I've been reading the dozens of emails about dealers who can't or won't tell their trusting customers squat about when their truck order will be filled. I have such a dealer in Ashland, VA. I ordered a F350 PSD crew cab on 01/22/00. As of 4/10/00 - nothing, zip, nada, not scheduled, etc. All they know (don't know) is what their computer screen displays. Is their anybody or place I can call, write or visit in the Ford Motor Company realm to get a straight answer to "will my order ever be filled? Tired of being treated like trash!

Re: searching for truth

Ask them to call the VOPC* and get the status of your truck. They can do it right then and there and all it takes is at most 3 minutes.

If they aren't willing to do that for someone who has been waiting 3 months, either they are the laziest dealer, or may have sold it off the lot.

Re: searching for truth

Jhenkel

I have the same problem, order F250 4X4 PSD
on 1/29/00 still unscheduled on 4/15/00.
To make matters worst I sold my old pickup on 4/8/00. I have a call into the regional
Rep in Cincinnati,OH. Hope to here back
on Monday. The Dealer basically said he wasn't making enough profit in the truck.
I get the feeling he is just using me to up
his allotment for next year.
I have reordered a second truck from

Cochise Willis
LoneStar Ford
281-931-3310

He said to leave the first truck on order
and take the first one that comes in.
It was only $175.00 to have it dropped shipped to Kentucky. Should have called him
in January.

Just to give you a little hope, I ordered 1/6 and have a week of 5/1 build date. I was beginning to think I was jinxed too.

That will tell you the status, but if the status is clean and unscheduled, that will not tell you why!

The dealer knows why. He knows his allocation and the commodity restrictions he faces in getting your truck built. Nobody else knows this. If he's not willing to tell you about this "business" stuff, then all you can do is wait. Or find another dealer.

Agree with you Smokey. My dealer told me from the start that it could take a while to get the truck in, and that it could even be a 2001 model by the time I get it. He explained his allocation, where I was in HIS waiting line, and how he could get additional allocations near the end of the model year based on regional requirements. He is also the ONLY dealer who sat down and actually showed me his little black book (in Georgia they don't use the NADA blue book. They use this little mystical book that has a black cover.) No other dealer would even let me get a glimpse of it...this dealer handed to me! Showed me what my bank loan value was on my old vehicle and suggested a price that I try and sell it myself for. It worked, too. Now I am afoot!
As it has turned out, he got 7 additional allocations for April and I am suppose to call a week from Saturday to find out what he got for May. He said if he gets that many more for May, I should have my truck by late June. Oh, yeah, and he has absolutely no problem with me calling every Friday to see what the VOPC status is.
For $200 over invoice you really can't beat that. And I really don't midn waiting. It allows me to save up for more goodies!

Way back in '69 - '73 I had a moolighting job selling cars at Husker Dodge in Omaha. We used a "black book" there too - it was the actual auction results from the last auction a week or so ago. Much more accurate and up-to-date than the NADA so-called "blue book" which ain't blue!
