Skid Plates

I have found an '05 F250 that I like that has everything that I want except for the FX4 package or skid plates. Does anybody know if a truck does not have skid plates from the factory can they be added at the dealership or should I try to find another truck? Any info would be appreciated.

Re: Skid Plates

They can be added but push really hard for them to do it for what the option originally cost. If you have to pay parts counter price it will cost much more plus labor.

Re: Skid Plates

My '05 had the $225 sticker on the bed, I peeled them off. You want 'em, their yours, free. Oh yeah, I guess it has a cheesy little skidplate too, gee what a value . I wish they would at least make packages like that actually worth something...

Re: Skid Plates

I added the skid plates to my truck when I bought it new. I should have negotiated for them before I closed the deal, the dealer may have thrown them in or sold them at cost. I think I had to pay around $230 and I had to install them myself.

They did not come with hardware for that price either. I think if you go off road much at all, you need the skid plates, mine are dinged from rocks or whatever, better the plates than the fuel tank or transfer case.

Re: Skid Plates

Also look for aftermarket skid plates. Their probably a lot better and don't cost as much.
