Tracking Super Duty order?

When I ordered my Dodge Ram in 1998, you could call the dealer and get a VIN at some point. Them, once you had a VIN, you could call a 1-800 number and check what status the truck build was in (D=paint, E=engine, etc.), and then when it got to a certain letter, that meant it was loaded onto the rail line. At that point, you could go to bnsf.com and type in your VIN and watch where it was (or had recently passed by).

Well, it's 2006, and I am ordering a Ford this time. Is there an analogous method for tracking my order? I searched and found an old link to a FAQ at ford-diesel.com, that does not exist any longer, and another post noting that posting the info was not allowed. Is that the case still? If so, is it allowed to direct me to somewhere I can get the information?

There may be a way, but my salesmen/dealer/service folks kept me informed of my 07 replacement. You might start there. They're getting it from someone/some place...

the saleman can tell you 3 things,when it was ordered, when it was schedualed to be built(including full VIN) and the week of shipment.
