Here is an article that I found that actually tells a day of when we can finally see the "actual" truck. So how many of our Texans are going to get some goooood photo's of this new marvel of a machine?
Quote: Ford has built its truck reputation on innovation in design, capability and durability,; said Mark Fields, Ford;s president of The Americas, who will unveil the new pickup at the State Fair of Texas in Dallas on Sept. 28. ;Clean diesel power will bring even more capability to our new Super Duty pickup ; along with a new level of quietness and refinement. It;s what you would expect from America;s truck leader for nearly 30 years, and it;s the sort of innovation you will see throughout our product lineup going forward.
Sorry to say but that's lots of trash to my ears:
reputation on innovation in design?
durability 6.0?
innovation you will see throughout our product lineup going forward Crown Vic? Ranger?
new level of quietness and refinement? Even lower?
fuel consumtion at > $3?
hybrid?
Let's time tell us and watch the Guniea pigs. George_C, please do it!

Sorry to be off topic here, but the constant bad mouthing of the Crown Vic/Mercury GM truly gets on my nerves. You can not get more car for the money and still get decent mpg. Drive one before bad mouthing the last full size American sedan. Nothing available in Europe even comes close unless you step up to a Benz S-class or BMW-7-series and those are for rich folks.
As I never owned such a car, I am complaining about the design and degre of innovation here, NOT quality. If I am correct the Crown Vic has not beeen remodelled for more than a dozen years.

I just saw around 7 2008 Superdutys. They still had the white and black tape on them and 2 were pulling bumper hitch trailers with boxed weight. The guys were in Long John Silvers in Berea KY eating lunch. I didn't have a camera or I would hve snapped a few shots. The exterior of the cab looks the same, the taillights are a little differant ant the front is ugly.Reminded me of a Chevrolet Colorado. The mirrors look like a copy of GM with some ugly little turn signals on them.
They also had an Amirillo 2006 dually hauling "Ultra Low Sulfur Fuel". The trucks were tagged MI and the trailers were tagged KY.

And that's why it's so cheap, comparatively speaking.

... and one of the reasons loses lots of money. Btw. I recently learned that BMW manufacturing costs for the 5 series is about 17k EUR which is roughly 20k US$. On Edmunds prices start at 45k bucks. Good deal - for BMW.

That's because good cars don't need to be remodeled very often.

, but you impicit that Toyotas, BMWs, Hondas are not very good cars as they are rebouit quite often?
Quite interesting since the State Fair starts on the 29th, not the 28th. Leaves you wondering huh????

The fronts are U G L Y. Unbelievably ugly, IMHO. I still think grabbing a 2001 to 2003 7.3 with low miles is a much better deal than buying new. Im seeing 01/02s for under twenty thousand with under 100K miles.
