upgraded 7.3L PSD

Does anyone know why Ford would come out with the higher-output 7.3L PSD in Jan-2002, if the new 6.0L is scheduled to be available for MY-2003?

Re: upgraded 7.3L PSD

If it was because of competition, was the upgrade heavily advertised? In addition, if Ford is like everyone else, trying to continue with a lean workforce, I would imagine that most of their powertrain engineering resources would be tied up on the 6.0L PSD development.

Re: upgraded 7.3L PSD

I would not think ford would have TOO much engineering involvement since the engine is built by Navistar for Ford.
Don't get me wrong I know Ford is involved I just don't think they are involved like they would be if THEY were building it.
Just my.02
