I do not have a VIN# assigned yet but have on good faith an estimate of 8-10 weeks for a build on a F-450. Will probably be the longest 8 weeks since I attended Navy boot camp.

I thought from my assembly time at GM that when the VIN was assigned it was being built? (They dont get a vin until they are on the line,,,)
They start with another number, (Can't remember the accronym now, but it's the number used thru the plant for tracing quality, ect...)
So they know when a body starts in Body shop,, it has a "Bar coded" number on it, and when the frame starts being assembled it also has that same number, so they can match them thru the plant until they reach "Body drop" which is exactly what it says, when they marry the body to the chassis...
The body gets the VIN tag on the line while passing thru "Trim" department.
It MAY not be the same for FORD, who knows,,
