I ordered my truck on 7 July. I got a VIN on 18 August, but no build date.
How can I have a VIN without a build date?

Got my vin; Dealer order tracker says ETA is Oct. 2. Does not have a build date. Surely he is not getting all he can out of his computer What do I tell him to do.

Tell him to:
1. Call the VOPC.
2. Enter your VIN.
3. Listen closely.
4. Remember what he heard.

Excellent advice. Worked so well I now have what I need to track it myself.
Interesting observation of 2001 Excursion orders. Must be pretty poor as my truck has been moved forward on the clock twice. According to the VOPC, my truck is scheduled for production week of 8/28/00 (today) and be on the ground week of 9/18/00.
Have to hurry up now and get the aftermarket items ordered. Will try to post ideas in another forum.
Thanks again.

I ordered June 1st and recieved my VIN 6 weeks ago and still have no build date. My dealer told me yesterday that he should have some news for me today.

Have VIN no build date
I was wondering what your build date was I ordered a new 2001 F-350 on July 12. Cannot get a response from the dealer on wother they have gotten a vin or a build date yet or if they have even gotten avin #. Just getting frustrated tired of waiting.
Welcome to the best site for learning all about Ford diesel trucks!
I ordered my truck on July 7, but my order was delayed because of the 532 Camper Package. The day after I cancelled the 532 package, I got a VIN number.
My truck will be built next week and I should have it within about 3 weeks after that. Can't wait.

Clean and unscheduled means your order is in the order bank but it's not yet scheduled for production on the assembly line, and you should not yet have a VIN.
The sequence of events when you order is included in the '99-up FAQ. To get there, scroll up to the top of this thread and click on the "faqs" word. Then '99-up, then "During your order".

Hi, Bob, and Welcome! to Ford-Diesel.com.
What's up with that is that you ordered a CrewCab, and CrewCabs are probably in short supply right now [based on a posting by a SoCal fleet manager recently]. Demand exceeds supply. So you must wait your turn.
It could be a problem with your dealer's allocation, or the priority your dealer assigned to your order, or it might simply be that CrewCabs are hard to get right now.
Read the '99-up FAQ to learn more about these terms such as allocation and priority. Scroll to the top of this thread and click on the little word "faqs" - then '99-up.
