What is the latest on ordering a F550? Where are all the F550s? - Diesel Forum

I am helping a friend get a F550. We aren't having any luck finding one anywhere. Why aren't there any available? I found a new 2005 model that the dealer is willing to swap beds to make a sale. Should I take a new '05 that meets our needs or wait and order one? I get the feeling we may be waiting a while for an ordered truck. What is up?

See www.arifleet.com/production.html showing long lead times; possible risk of not being built. Back earlier in the model year it showed some wheelbase choices on longer lead times, noe it looks like the whole 450/550 series is backed up.

Not that my $0.02 cents will help you in your search but factory orders are a wait and see adventure. I ordered my F-550 Oct 3. Truck was assembled first week of 2006 and arrived at Manning Equipment around Jan 8 and shipped out via Burlington Northern Rail on Jan 11th for the left coast.

A friend ordered one about (roughly) 3 weeks ago and now has a VIN assigned to his order but no build date yet.

I received the Certificate of Origin, odometer document and bill of sale in the mail FEDEX yesterday so I'm off to get title, plates and registration so when I take delivery in early February down in WA I've got plates to slap on the new rig and drive it off the lot.

Theres a 2 ford dealers by me that seem to always have at least one or two 450/550's in stock with pickup beds. Plus they always have them in stock with dump beds oor just chassis cabs.

Depends on what you want? Email me some specs and I will run a locator for you if you like and let you know what is out there. Just as a word of caution there are not many out there and from I am hearing you will be getting an 07 MY if you order now. Anyway if you would like feel free to email me and I will see what is there
