Will "improved" AIC from late '03 model work on '01 Lariat?

My neighbor is getting a new '03 XLT and doesn't need the AIC. When I got my '01 the AIC wasn't an option on the Lariat but I've always wanted one. Will there be any "compatibility issues" if I buy his new AIC for my 01?

Should work just fine. They actually didn't improve it for '03 at all, it's the same one they have been making for a couple of years (since they added the display and stuff.)

Thanks Duncan,
The only AIC I've used (older F350) didn't have the display and since I couldn't get one with my '01 Lariat I wasn't sure if it would have been the display type. I guess I tend to refer to any of them with the display as "new & improved" because I don't have one yet
