x-plan again

Dealer says getting a x-plan from a friend won't work, you have to be a direct relative. From what I see here, Ford employees are handing them out to diesel-stop members. Dealer full of it?
I bought a truck today and the dealer will redo the sale if I can get a x-plan in 5 days.
Help!

Re: x-plan again

Bought mine yesterday using an xplan supplied by a member here. I never met him, he was very kind in getting me this deal.

My dealer said I thought you had to be a employee or family member to get that. I took him the email I had recieved from ford with my pin and it said right on there xplan freinds and neighbors. I think that is what it said, he looked at it, made a copy and said ok. Walked out with my new truck.

Your dealer does not have to give it to you though. But if they want your business, I dont see why they would not.

If you have the pin and email, go back with that and see what he says. I would think he could call ford and make sure it is ok. Probably just does not want to.

Go back and save some money. Dont let them stick it to you.

The dealer has no obligation to accept an X-plan deal. It is also none of his business where you got your PIN.

Re: x-plan again

Thanks
The dealer is more than willing to accept a x-plan, just need to fanagle one somewhere. I hate horses but I will check out AQHA membership. Smokey says EAA has a one year wait now. This xplan will reduce the price of the truck $1000

Re: x-plan again

Wow, I think you should have gotten the PIN in hand before purchasing the truck! I don't know if you can get one in 5 days, especially when the clock is starting across a weekend...

Dealer says getting a x-plan from a friend won't work, you have to be a direct relative.

[/ QUOTE ] Your dealerperson is confusing the X-Plan with the other alphabet soup plans: A, D, and Z. For the other plans you must be in the immediate family of the Ford or dealership employee to use the PIN.

But the X-Plan is different. Originally it was intended only for employees of Ford suppliers (and their immediate family). Then they allowed all Ford employees to give out 4 X-Plan PINs per year to "Friends and Neighbors". Then, to pump up sales after 9/11, Ford allowed all Ford stockholders to use the X-Plan. And for a while, to pump up sales even more, they allowed all stockholders to give out apps so all their friends and neighbors could ask Ford for an X-Plan PIN, and Ford gave out those PINs like candy at a Marti Gras parade. The stockholder friends and neighbors deal expired on 30 Sep, and I don't think it was renewed. But Ford employees can still give out 4 X-Plan PINs per year.

Re: x-plan again

Yeah, I guess I thought you had an xplan already. Dont know if you can get one that quickly. But ask around.

The xplan did make the deal go very smoothly for me.

Re: x-plan again

Are you saying compulsive buying is bad? This economy needs people like me. If I can find a Ford employee that will cough up a pin, what would take more than 5 days? Is there a long drawn out deal to get it?

Re: x-plan again

I dont think there is a long drawn out deal, but you have to find someone to get you one. That may be the hard part.

They will need your name and SS#, address and I think that was it. Might only take them a day or so to get your pin.

I am a compulsive buyer also. I planned to eventually get the diesel, then happened upon a very giving soul that got me an x plan pin and then decided maybe I could do it sooner. Then spent a week haggling via email with several dealers. Found a great deal from a dealer 3 hours away. Took that deal to my local dealer who had a truck that was spec'd out better and they made me almost the same deal. Not quite as good, but local dealer whom I have a good relationship with. I had a 2002 F250 V10 that although it had 17,500 miles on it was in beautiful shape. I had even promised the wife last year that I would not buy another truck for at least three years, well I am glad she is a forgiving person and loves me.

Sorry to ramble on.

Good luck to you and congrats on the new truck
Paul

Re: x-plan again

Once you get the papers.
You have to fill out the paper work and fax it to Ford,

It will take anywhere from a week to month to get the pin back from Ford. Search on Xplan last June and see how long many members where waiting for their pins. There are all kinds of post about has anybody got their pin yet.

I don't think you can get the paper work done fast enough to get back to the dealer in 5 days. But the good thing is that the Pin is good for two vehicles and is good for 12 months from date of issue.

So since you are a compulsive buyer who wants to help the economy, There is still hope . The next two trucks you buy this year will be at the lower price.

Re: x-plan again

Smokey, do you get headaches with all that info upstairs?
I printed your comments and am leaving now to pick the truck up.
I'll show the dealerdude that I may be stupid but I know people that got it together. Called a retiree from Ford I know and hopefully he can do something here.
Thanks

Re: x-plan again

Compulsive (or is it impulsive?) buying is great! I'm just saying that people were experiencing 5 and 6 *week* waits to get PINs earlier this year, 5 days is going to be tough. Maybe the delays were due to so many people taking advantage of that one form, and now that things are back to normal you can get one quickly. I wonder if your dealer would cut you some slack if you had at least *applied* for it within 5 days? (I'm not sure what the logistics are of him sorting out the financial details, or what money he might have tied up waiting on your PIN, or whatever... it may be casuing him pain to wait for you, which is going to make him less likely to do it.)

Re: x-plan again

Painted horse,

is it true that the pin is good on two vehicles. I did not know that. My wife is giving me a headache because I have had two new trucks and her car is three years old now. Maybe I could surprise her for christmas with a new car.............

Re: x-plan again

Yes it's good for two vehicles with twelve months of issue.

I Ordered my 03.25 F350 in Aug using the pin and just last week bought my wife a new EB Explorer. I specifically talked to the dealer about making sure the Xplan pin was good for both.
(Didn't want to mess up the delivery of my truck). He checked in the computer and said the number was good and still had a second purchase available on it.

Of course he wondered how I had gotten it. I told him it was easy, I had downloaded a form off the internet and faxed it into Ford.

I guess I will have to accept that my Xplan savings on 2 purchases is the eqivilant of the rebate that Ford is not offereing to us New 6.0 owners.
