X-Plan and Delivery Charge $795.00

I did a search on this topic and didn't get any direct hits, but remember reading a post or two about this:

I am ordering my F250 tomorrow under the X-Plan. I am confused, do I pay the destination/delivery charge of $795.00?

With X-Plan am I going to be exempt from any of the usual charges? If so what do I watch out for?

thanks!
Sam

No, you still pay destination charge, tax, tag and title, most also charge for your first tank of GAS (yes Im being charged for 44 GAL of gas in my PSD ) and FDAF (ford imposed advertising).

Re: X-Plan and Delivery Charge $795.00

thanks for the clarification. The X-Plan is really just a way to get invoice pricing without the negotiating?

That's essentially correct, though it seems to land a little under invoice. I think the dealer may make a little more money on X-plan too.

True, I believe the dealer gets reimbursed from Ford when they sell on x plan, plus a little extra for their trouble.

Re: X-Plan and Delivery Charge $795.00

The X-plan price is close to invoice. Invoice includes the Destination and Delivery charge as well a charge for some fuel (not a full tank) and for FDAF (Ford District Advertising Fund).

The dealer is not allowed to add "dealer pack" charges to the X-plan deal. Dealer packs include "documentation" or paperwork charges, ADP (additional dealer profit), etc. The most common dealer pack is a documentation fee. Don't pay it.

Well, I'm getting charged for 44 gal of GAS. If thats only "some" then I wonder how big of a tank the X really has?

Well, Ford sometimes changes the rules, so it may be a new policy to fill up the tank at the assembly plant.

But the last DORA I saw dated January 2003 for a PSD had a charge for only 18 gallons of "gas" for $31.50.

And back in '99 when I ordered mine, the invoice included a charge for only 18 gallons of "gas".

Almost all dealers have a policy to deliver all new Fords with a full tank of fuel, including mine. But I had to pay for only 18 gallons on the invoice, and the dealer took the hit for the additional charge to fill up the "38 gallon" tank.

But I left the dealership after taking delivery from my nephew, and immediately stopped at a convenience store and topped off the tank. It held anopther 4+ gallons!. So their lot boy didn't worry about slowly filling the tank through the foam.
