5w/40 Oil - Amsoil, Rotella, Mobil 1, Motorcraft

I know this has been posted before, but going in for oil change tomorrow before week long camping trip. I am switching to 5w/40, it makes sense out here with the cold weather. Question is, which oil are people going to use in these trucks? I have read a few posts that basically say they are pretty much all the same, go with where the deal is. Amsoil has provided some data, that was helpful but I am looking for real world experience. I have always used Rotella T, but DISPISE Shell. They are the single largest importer of middle east oil, and I hate giving money to people who want to kill myself and my family. Would much rather support Conoco or someone who uses US crude. Any thoughts on which way to go? Anyone know who makes Motorcraft oil? I am absolutely going with the Motorcraft filter. Thanks!!

I would have thought that Royal Dutch Shell would use lot of North Sea Crude stocks.

This Link snopes.com: Saudi Gas Boycott

suggests that Shell as the largest importer of Middle East Oil is an urban legend:

In 2007, the top four importing oil from the Persian Gulf were as follows (figures given in barrels):

Motiva Enterprises: 160,876,000
Exxon/Mobil: 155,181,000
Valero: 153,519,000
Marathon: 64,134,000

Dang, Mobil is #2, I already bought 13 qts of Mobil 1

I use the Rotella 5w40 synthetic for the cold weather benefits and love it so far.

Good to know! I was trying to find out the real truth, but with the internet, who knows?? At least everyone says Sinclair is good to go!

Motorcraft oil is blended to Ford specs by Conoco-Phillips...

As far as the rest goes, any quality 5W-40 that carries a API CJ-4 service rating will do you fine.

Not to knock it, but it should be noted though that Amsoil 5W-40 is NOT API certified. Below is a list of API certified Amsoil oils, none of which carry the current CJ-4 spec...

I use nothing but Motorcraft in my units. I think Ford has the most vested interest in the quality of their oil as they are the ones standing behind the 100,000 warranty.

as long as you provide invoices for oil changes done every 5000 mile interval or have your dealer provide the oil change 20x during the 100,000 miles. how much is a oil change at ford? times 20 =$$$
Around $50/$75 for a oil change DIY?
Gets pricey and what about after 100,000 miles? worn out? tired, many people brag how many miles they have but fail to mention all the repairs needed to keep the vehicle on the road.

I have always used Rotella-T 15w-40 in my two rigs but in cold weather during the winter season I have used Rotella-T 10w-30.

I have never wanted to change the type (dino vs synth) of oil the rigs are used to having.

The 10-30 does help the rig's starting during colder weather.
