6speedmanual, Just from reading your responses I can tell what type of person you are. You say all those die hard dodge guys say they love their dodges...well duh their die hard which sounds just like you. If dodge is doing so good then they should have stayed in business and not took all that money that our government has given them over the years numerous times. Sure, cummins is a good diesel considering they originally design them for large trucks. Ford must be doing something right, because they were the only american company that DID NOT embarass us unlike dodge and gm. Before we all start making personal input on what this truck will be like, lets just see how it is once we can buy them. And im not sure if its dodge or fiat or maybe just ram. Who knows.

Sure, I was die hard Dodge too, but that all changed once I saw the quality that the Ford was built with. Yeah, Dodge may come with a manual tranny, but they fail. The manual 5spd on our last 3500 Ram dually had issues from day one with it popping out of 5th gear at highway speeds. The Cummins was bulletproof, but it was the tranny to go first. What a great engine wrapped in such a POS truck.

My thoughts exactly. Good engine, crappy wrapper.

I think you hit the nail on the head, 6SPD. Speed Demons and gadget heads get catered to a little too much these days. 400HP and 750lb.ft torque and there are still those that want to chip it to hell and back once they get their hands on it. Why can't you be happy with what you got?
You got a good point.....I love my 7.3, but the misses and I are talking 'bout traveling and visiting grand kids and getting a toy hauler. Retirement within two years and this one really looks good but my gosh 55 to 60k!!! yikes ...

holy cow... all because the techno-heads get more attention then the daily user. I want to enjoy my truck and not have to spend another 3-4k to tweak it like my 7.3. Yet seems like my retirement will get ate up in truck payments alone.......what to do.......oh wait.....stand by until they are out there about two years and get debugged....... this is one sweet looking truck no matter what....

Wow , a little heat here . Here's another opinion . It doesn't matter if the motor is the best ever . The truck is butt ugly . They went from a home run 0n the 08 to 2010 to a foul ball on this ugly turd . Looks like a toyota or some other import truck , actually looks like a big dodge dakota Way to go Ford . Take a tough looking truck , only thing tougher being a semi and make it look wimpy .

Matter of opinion I guess. 08-10 look like the headlights are upside down. Still think 05-07 look the best. I thought the new one looked awesome wheni saw it. Giant grill with football size ford emblem looks great.

I just saw one of these driving down the freeway today. I disagree with most of you and actually think these trucks look great.

Remember all the Ford owners on here who couldn't stand the front end on the 08's when they came out? Guess what? We all got used to it. It's sort of like the more you see them the more they grow on you.

You WILL see a lot of 2011 Super Dutys on the road in the next year or two so it's just a matter of time until "most" Ford guys will like them.

Of course there are Fiat and Government Motor fans who think all 99+ Super Duty's are ugly.

Personaly I really like the 2011 Super Duty that was at Barrett Jackson but when I saw all the new Shelby Mustangs my attention sort of drifted away from the pick up. Further up there were Ferrari's, Lambo's, Bently's, and M. Benz's that turned my attention away from the brand new $80-100K Shelby Mustangs. There is something amazing about a car that stickers new for $300-500K.

Early reports of the 2011 Super Duty was the Ford emblem on the grill was the largest ever put on a Ford vehicle. The video showed a guy with rather small hands and I don't think he could have covered it up with both hands!!!

I hope your right and they grow on me because I am a huge FORD fan and really want a newer truck and the thought of them actually having a Ford motor is awesome . I guess time will tell . I do really like the 05 -07 looks as well and the 08's did take a little time before I decided I liked them , I have also only seen pics . Sometimes that makes a huge difference too.

Well, I had a good look over, and a drive of a 2011 F-450 at our plant here a few weeks ago. Was a real 'bare-bones' spec CC, wind up windows and all, but was a CC with a two test weights firmly strapped to the bed.

I'm loving this new transmission all over (can be coaxed into 6th as low as 34mph), and I'm amazed at just how quiet that engine idles (interestingly it gets noticebly louder 'off idle' - but at a drivethrough you won't have to shout anymore).

The only thing that felt 'odd' was the throttle response when doing a standing start - but this was a development vehicle, so I know that'll be fixed.

All in all, I really liked what I saw and drove... If i was in a position to purchase a 3500 crew, I would have an order in place without a doubt.

you need to read a little my friend. ford did not take gov money, but they are moving production elsewhere. so seriously, without getting into politcal stuff here, just one quick question, whats better, some of what the gov takes from us going back into our system in hopes of getting started, or letting them take care of it on their own if it means less jobs here?
the dodge truck is not a POS. not as good as ford, no doubt what so ever there. and yes the tranny goes first, DUH!! the tranny has always been the weakest part of the drive line. why do you think in only 8 to 9 years it has changed 3 times?? plus had minor improvements to each build each year? it was only with the bringing of the 6.0 that engines and other problems started to fail beofre the tranny. go back a few years, trucks ran strong, 60 to about maybe 100k for a working truck, the tranny was gone. i am not the ford tranny expert but i have had i guess about 25??? all had trannies rebuilt. these are tow trucks, towing little cars, 3k maybe. not big transports hauling 15k or more. my personal truck does that, when i pull my 5ver.

It was interesting sales numbers were released today for January. Ford had the highest in the industry, 24% growth in sales. Chrysler/dodge/fiat/whatever their name is today was horrible. 8% decline. They are in free fall.

Haha, your reply goes nowhere because you cant come back with something better. I think that our government should have never give either one of those companies money. This is not the first time it has happened to dodge(FIAT) and now GM. Dodge must not be as great as you think, or else they would sell more trucks and be financially better off. Now our governement is giving money to an Italian government for FIAT and who knows what GM will end up doing. Ford can survive some of the toughest times in the economy and yet still have a growth rate, but the our other 2 companies got shown up by foreign companies. And as far as Ford moving production, the only production moving I know of is bringing some of the european makes to the US. Cummins is probably just laughing because FIAT pays them very very well so they can atleast have a small excuse to sell a truck. If they didnt have the cummins, FIAT might just have to give up on the truck market.

>>>>most widely tested motor they have ever launched<<<<

because they said the same thing about the 6.0 and the 6.4. The issue with the 6.7 is it has no history. The previous engines had life as the VT365 and the MaxxForce 7. Ford's efforts consisted of different electronics.

The mexican special was created from scratch so they had to assume a more in depth program to test everything. When you cut thru the crap there's no surprise in that statement.
