00-03 excursion....v-10 or 7.3

looking too buy excursion with either gas v-10 or diesel 7.3 to haul family and 10,000 lb race trailer...is this unrealistic I only tow a few times a month no more than 3 hrs away.....I naturally figure 7.3,but have been thinking about the v10 alot because there are more available...... I would like some feed back if possible...Thanks Grant

I have the Ex with a v-10 and 4.30 gear. Around here the Ex's with the V-10 are easy to find compared to the 7.3. I usually get 13-14 mpg with mine. If you go with the gas, definitely get the 4.30 gears pulling 10,000. And find one with the towing mirrors or add them on later.
