2000 Ford F150 Supercab 4x2 5.4l V8 vs 2000 Ford F250 SD Supercab 4x2 6.8l V10

Who would win in a race between a Y2k F150 4x2 supercab with the 5.4 vs a 2000 Ford F250SD Supercab 4x2 with the V10? The F250 weighs more, but has alot more power. The F150 has power, but is alot lighter. Which is faster?

F150 would more than likely outlast the V10 simply for MPG gallon reasons. You get both up to top speed and while the V10 will out run the 5.4l, the V10 will be using more gas than a Viper with a fuel leak. Depends on how long the race is

Stoplight to stoplight or 1/4 mile.

Re: 2000 Ford F150 Supercab 4x2 5.4l V8 vs 2000 Ford F250 SD Supercab 4x2 6.8l V10

Last year I testdrove both,
99 F150 SC 5.4L auto, 4x4, 3.55, (brand new) and
99 F250 SC LWB 6.8L auto, 4x4, 3.73 (5k miles on it)

The F150 seemed much more snappy off the line. Remember, with the F250's larger tires, the rear gear is about the same (3.55+F150 tires is about the same as 3.73+F250 tires).

So, it's my feeling that the combination of the 4r100 tranny + extra weight of the F250 was not made up by the extra torque/hp of the V10..

Both trucks were QUICK by truck standards, but the F150 had the edge in quickness..

I didn't try a 45 to 65mph test.. But I think the results would be similar.

Also,I bet if you played with rear end ratio's some on the V10, (like maybe with the 4.30), that would tip the balance the other way.

One of the car/truck mags I read tested a 1999 V-10 SD Reg cab with 4.30, and I remember the time being in the upper 7's (7.8 I believe). I have seen many 99 5.4L F-150 4x2's tested and the times are generally in the lower to mid 8's. My guess is that a the 2000 SD w/ 40 extra horsepower would win.

My money is on the V10 if both have equivalant final drive ratios. I have read that the 2000 V10 has slightly more power than previous years. I test drove a 99 V10 and have a 2000 V10 and I can tell a difference. I haven't raced anyone with my truck but I have suprised a few people.

Re: 2000 Ford F150 Supercab 4x2 5.4l V8 vs 2000 Ford F250 SD Supercab 4x2 6.8l V10

I have a 99 regualar cab V-10, auto, and 4.30 ls. I think if you're looking for a race truck you're looking at the wrong truck. Me and a buddy decided to make a few runs 0-60 to see how fast it is and as I recall they were all in the 12 second range. That was just using a stop watch and all the runs were, "you say go and I'll punch it."

The 00's have 310hp and the 99's have 275.

Re: 2000 Ford F150 Supercab 4x2 5.4l V8 vs 2000 Ford F250 SD Supercab 4x2 6.8l V10

I must admit I've raced my brothers 95 F-150 RC with a 305 and my 00 F-250 CC with the V-10 won, but he did have a better reaction time, or was it my tire spin?

A buddy just bought a PSD CC with Auto and 3.83LS like mine and I'm sure we will soo be racing each other to find out the answer. Right George?
