Re: 2001 - What oil do you pick ???

Rather than go to the 10w-30, wouldn't 5w-30 be a closer match to the recommended 5w-20?

In 99 and 2000, Ford recommended 5w-30 in the exact same motors that they now call for 5w-20 in. So I would have to believe that 5w-30 is safe to use..

2001 - What oil do you pick ???

I am thinking of using Mobil 1 10-30 if it won't be a problem, unless there is an other synthetic oils in 5-20 that are available all over (walmart, ect.)
Thanks,
Bill

Six full quarts. Also, if you're doing it yourself, buy the Fumota valve with nipple. Makes your changes much easier and less messy.

I use Motorcraft synthetic blend 5W20.Only $1.77 a quart at Wal Mart. Ford tech friends of mine recommend it.

Re: 2001 - What oil do you pick ???

I'm either going to use the Mobil 1 5w30 at 5000 mile intervals or the Motorcraft 5w20 at 3000 mile intervals. Haven't quite decided yet, but need to soon.
