2002 SuperDuty's

Has anyone heard of what the 2002 SD's are going be be like? I have been searching alot on this and haven't found much. Even my dealer has said Ford has been pretty tight lipped about the new models. Only thing I turned up was a little info about a new front fascia and dash design. I have heard rumors about a new(more powerful)V-10 but nothing solid. Anyone know anything about this?

Re: 2002 SuperDuty's

Good question. While Ford has been trumpeting the arrival of the new Navistar 6 liter diesel to replace the 7.3L PSD in 2003, I have seen nothing in the press regarding the V10.

In fact, there is nothing at all on the V10 on BlueOvalNews' web-page:
http://www.blueovalnews.com/engine_plans_05.htm

dedicated to future engine (2003-2005) technology at Ford.

It makes me wonder if the engine has a future beyond '02 at Ford, what with all the enviro pressure and all.

FWIW,from a friend who has a brother who works at a Ford dealership in northeastern NC--the only thing they've heard is that a sunroof will be available as an option in '02. Who knows?

Re: 2002 SuperDuty's

Like I had said, even the dealers don't know much about it- I hope that it's something big to put those chevy boys 8.1 in its place, not that the V-10 cant do it now, just for a little more insurance.....

Re: 2002 SuperDuty's

From what I have heard/read, the V-10 and V-8 are here for a while. They are going to go to a 4 valve configuration in 2003 or 2004 or something like that. I don't think there will be any big changes, just little enhancements. Might squeeze an extra 5-10hp out of them in 2002.

I suppose its too much to expect iron heads on a truck engine these days huh?

Guess listening to customers probably doesn't rate too high...
