2003 F250 V10 4x4

I'm going to look at a used F250 Crew Cab tomorrow morning.
It sounds like a great deal, which makes me nervous...
It's a 2003 CC 4X4 V10 with 27k miles. XLT package plus a few
extras- captains chairs, heated mirrors, back up sensors, etc.
It's at a Dodge dealer and supposedly was a trade-in.
They are asking 21k. This seems like a pretty good deal.
What do ya'll think?
Also, they didn't know what gears it had. Is there a way to tell
from the VIN? Thanks!

not from vin as far as i know, but possibly from the axle code from the sticker on the door or physically going under the truck and tring to find some id tag or something...at least do a carfax or something similar and u could also use the vin and do an oasis which is similar to a carfax but is done through ford that tells u the history of the truck

Thanks. I got the codes for the door sticker off another site. I'll check it out when I get there. Merry Christmas!

Re: 2003 F250 V10 4x4

Well I guess I need to update my signature!
The rig turned out to be pretty nice... a few little scratches to touch up and a good detailing appears to be all it needs. The axle code is C3, so I guess I got the 4:30's which will probably be okay since I'm going to put 285's or 295's on soon.
They must have been pretty anxious to get rid of the thing as I was able to get them down to $18,700... Feels good to be back in a Super Duty again

It sounds like a sweet machine, the 4.30's are the ones to get. In fact it would be a deal breaker if it didn't have them.

Really nice deal, the 4:30's will be great especially after larger tires.

I just sold my 04 F150 Super Cab FX4. This was a really nice truck, but there were three things I didn't like. The seats really suck in the 04's... shorter seat bottoms (front) and the side bolsters are
pretty weak. I also didn't like the ground clearance. And my kids grew a bunch in the last year and the back seat was getting a little small for them...

Re: 2003 F250 V10 4x4

Thanks guys! I'm really liking this truck... plenty of power, plenty of room. I'm already starting my 'wish list' of mod's and
would appreciate any recommendations you may have. Here's what I'm thinking so far-

1. Upgrade tires & wheels, probably 285's or 295's. I don't want a lift.
2. Upgrade the intake & exhaust.
3. Spray in bed liner
4. Mud flaps
5. Chip or Tuner?

Any other suggestions?

I should probably explain my user name
Before the F150, I had an '02 F350 CC SB PSD... absolutely loved this truck, but had to sell due to divorce

Re: 2003 F250 V10 4x4

My 6.0L only got about 16mpg on average and with the cost of diesel at .30-.50 cents higher a gallon it does not cost any more to run a V10 as compared to a diesel.

Congrats on the new truck!

I miss mine, but I love my new ride too.

Re: 2003 F250 V10 4x4

three friends all run custom sct in their trucks. they all love them. also the ford dealer up here put them in and has no problem doing warranty work after the install. plus they make a neat 4 position chip for those now. good luck and congrats on the new pickup.

And you are dissing a V10 dude? Lets look at your sig. None of those problems with my truck and I paid a lot less. I bet you can't wait until the warranty runs out and you have to buy a turbo on your own.

Sorry about your physical problems.
