2006 v-10 mileage?

Looking at getting a 350 reg cab 4x4 with a 11' service bed. Was planning on 4.10 limited slip. Was wondering what mileage to expect or what others are getting. It will be a auto tranny, if that makes a difference. Most of the time the truck won't tow, except a skidsteer sometimes. Will be set up for concrete construction.

Re: 2006 v-10 mileage?

Just turned 1600 miles on mine, averaging between 9 and 10 for rural driving. Haven't gone on any
real trips with it yet... from what I'm reading here and on other boards, sounds like they
start picking up MPG around 6-8K miles.

Re: 2006 v-10 mileage?

Over at FTE (ford truck enthusiasts)in the V10 Forum there is MPG poll with quite a few resposes. I would look over there as most of the V10 guys hang out there and are a pretty respectable buch of guys. Is sounds like they guys are around 10mpg every day driving with 12-13 on hwy runs. They also are claiming a mileage and HP increase around that 6-10k mileage mark. seems to be the break in point on these new V10s.

My 03' runs 11-12mpg day to day, with 12-14mpg on the Hwy and 8-10mpg with any trailor (whether it be 3k or 11k lbs). I usually run all of 70mpg and most of the time its 75 so I'm not the easiest one on the go pedal. Good luck, you'll like your V10. I would recomend the 4.30 gears, the mileage difference has been reported to be negligible and it really turn them into a towing/hauling SOB. I'd imagine since your getting a 11ft flat bed you'll be getting a dually??? Just gives more of a reason to have the 4.30s.

Re: 2006 v-10 mileage?

My '01 F350 4x4 V10 with around 3600# of 9.5' Hallmark camper does around 9 at 65-70 mph. Once and a while I get close to 10. The big problem is keeping the thing in OD. Any wind, slight uphill and you can kiss OD goodbye. But it's the best running truck from the 5 or so ('68 to '01) I've owned!

My '05 F-250 CC 4x4, 4.10 gets between 10-12 in mixed unloaded driving, 8-10 towing 9500 lbs on the freeway.
