3 valve V10

I know they are planning on making the 5.4 a 3 valve engine next year. Has anyone heard if the V10 is going to be changed or not? I am looking at a truck for the beginning of next year. I was wondering if I should wait a little longer and see if the V10 will have 3 valves. I understand that would generate a little more HP and make it more efficient.

Re: 3 valve V10

I've read where the 3 valve V-10, and the 3 valve V-8, are being sold now in Australia, so the engine is a reality. When it will be released here is a good question. A good guess would be when the 3 valve V-8 is introduced here. IIRC, there was an article on the 3 valve gas engines on BON a while back. SamC2

I've heard that, too, but how is it relevant to this conversation?

Re: 3 valve V10

What I've heard is that there making 3 valve 5.4's right now for
the Marauder at the new line in Essex
the 3 valve 5.4 will be here in 2004 for the new F150 launch
the super dutys will probably get the 3 valve 5.4 in 2005
I know they plan on making a 3-valve v-10 after that

I saw that the 3-valve 5.4 is making 300 hp and 365 ft pounds of torque at 3,750
right now the 5.4 peak torque (350ft pounds) is at 2,250 or 2,500
it's going to be a bit buzzy

Mark, here's where the info came from:

http://media.ford.com/article_displa...ticle_id=13620

The 3 valve V-8s were released in Australia in August 2002. The above article has some good technical info and pics of the new 5.4 3 valve engine. The V-10s were only mentioned as being produced in Windsor and Essex engine plants. Too much excitement, I guess. SamC2

Re: 3 valve V10

You are correct, it is the 4 valve in the Marauder.

This is the all-aluminum V8 used in the Lincoln Aviator too, right? As well as the new Mustang...Cobra(??) but slightly retuned for that application.
