3 valve V10 in the van yet?

Can anyone tell me if Ford is putting the 3 Valve V10 in the E350 van yet? and is the 5 speed transmission available for that same van.
If so what sort of mileage differences are there and what sort of on road performance differences?
thanks
Andrew.

Don't think so, if it is, it's detuned, and it's only availabe in the standard lenght, not extended.

About 50 horse less than the Super Duty version.

Re: 3 valve V10 in the van yet?

i have an 05 e450 2v, 5sp, and 4.56 gears...i know it has the 2v but with the 5sp and 4.56 gears it hauls...it is a company truck and i want to limit the power b/c i think it is too much for someone to 'drive it like they stole it'

as far as the 07 getting the 3v i havent seen the ordering guide out yet and have not heard of any rumors...in terms of the 3v in the truck it is getting hit by the epa and has been severely limited in the carb states...also it probably wont happen b/c the 2v v10 (305/420) performs as well as the diesel (235/440)...who wants to pay $5k more for the same performance and questionable mileage

I am hearing that none of the 3 valve engines will fit in the current model E seies. Too wide.

that might explain a redesign in the near future...either to fit the 3v gas engines and/or shoehorn the 6.4 diesel in there

Re: 3 valve V10 in the van yet?

The E series vans will probably never get the 3v V10. Marketing only decision.

The 3v V10 was an upgrade for Ford To reclaim towing and hauling capacity numbers in SuperDuty trucks... the vans do not need the extra HP and torque based on the max loads they are capable of. And considering there is no way to hook on a 5th wheel trailer.

It has nothing to do with fitting....all the motor dimensions are exactly the same. The biggest reason to not fuss with it in a van, from Fords perspective, is the massive re wiring modifications because the 3v V10 uses three separate computers vs the 2v V10 only two. The 3v V10 has full OBDII implemented and a fairly sophisticated intake and exhaust system. Modifying a van for the motor does not make sense when the 2v V10 is already achieving more then enough power. Buying trends for vans is not the same as for trucks where fickle buyers always want "king of the hill" bragging rights.

They did completely redesign the F53 chassis for the 3V V10. No one knows if or when the cut away van will see the 3v or the Hurricane v8 for Class C motor home builds

The 07 3v V10 is not offered in the Carb states and is rumored to be replaced by the Hurricane V8 in MY 2008

??????????????? Never heard of a detuned gas engine in the van. The diesel's are because of the smaller intercooler (?)

Take Care

Re: 3 valve V10 in the van yet?

The V10 version IS less horsepower, so I was making the observation that it's either not the 3V versions, or if it is, it's detuned.

Re: 3 valve V10 in the van yet?

Thanks for the discussion guys. I think that for the RV industry it would seem beneficial for Ford to put the 3 valve in the Econoline cab somehow. They would benefit in the long run I would think. I have a 2 valve 2002 V10 in my van and I am very happy with it. The five speed tranny and more power would always be appreciated.
