Post 351w

a friend has a 89 F250 4x4 with a 351W ..... but the motor is in parts, (topend) needs a new dis. the drive shaft is stuck. any know of a way to get said out... with out pulling the motor and the oil pump??

the truck is in great shape and for only $500.

would rather fix current motor, not instal a rebuilt.

even though a rebuilt plus cost to buy the truck i would still be money ahead.

If you mean the distributor drive shaft, there is a (for lack of better term) a lock washer on the shaft that is installed between the pump and a cast part of the block. It's so the shaft won't fall out when the engine is turned over (upside down) . If its the one I am thinking of it is a hexagon shaft. they can be a real "bugger" to center when you try to install the distributor. At least its IN THE FRONT so you can see what your doing
