I looked around and found a decent price on 4.56 gears for my V10 CC 4x4. I could run larger tires and wind up with a 4.3 ratio! I imagine these suckers would pull like a dream. Then there's the economy part... But oh the acceleration...!
Anyone out there running 4.56s?
Dan

Yes, on a 79 chevy with a 85 cucv undercarriage. The truck has a 4 speed manual and a extremely souped up 305. It will pull a house, but it only gets 8 to 11 mpg, that is probably due to the fact that it does not have overdrive. It runs about 3100 rpm at 65. I really like the gears and the positrac that the military used. Hope all is well, Mason
Try FATBOYZ 4X4 in Wichita. They do excellent work and are great to work with.
The 3.73 to me seem too weak a ratio for this heavy a truck. I love the power of the V10 and would love to see it better used with the lower gears.
I presume the OD would allow for similar gas mileage on the road, but the take off and towing would increase to almost mind-blowing level! Even with 285 or even 305 size tires that combo would be awesome.

Is there a formula or a website that helps you calculate rpm's at different gear ratios with different tire sizes?
