Re: 460 chip

Hey Springer,

I drive a 460 but do not have a chip. I have heard "rumors" that mid range or premium fuel is needed when folks chip the 460. They say the timing is advanced and the premium fuel solves pinging that occurs? Because my truck is thirsty for gas...I do not want to use anything but cheap regular unleaded. Someone else may be able to chime in with more accurate details on chipping a gasser.

The only performance mods I have made to my truck are:

1) Banks stinger cat back exhaust kit...Banks torque tube headers maybe in the future if I can find a good deal.

2) K/N Air filter and air charge box.

3) Tune Up...I know this isn't a performance mod but changing plugs, cap, rotor, and wires with the factory ford motorcraft parts helps it run nice...even at 130,000-miles.

4) Heavy duty trans, trans cooler, amzoil atf, and banks transmission guage.

The rest of the items I have added are for towing and hauling a camper (air bags, rancho shocks, larger E rated tires, good brakes, etc.).
