4R100 transmissions - tip of the iceberg

It seems the Michigan Truck Plant has discovered new flaws in the automatics used in gassers.

Maybe this is why my replacement trans is still 'in the pipeline'. Perhaps the 'pipeline' is the sewer.

Re: 4R100 transmissions - tip of the iceberg

It's not an '01, but I don't think my tranny goes "solidly" into Park either. When I go to Reverse, it almost falls there by itself.

The interesting part is that they are recommending people use the parking brake when starting their truck. Since you must have your foot on the regular brake to even turn the ignition key, this seems to be a worthless "fix".

All I had to do was call an 800 number (posted in the directive) and tell them my VIN. They sent a new transmission to my dealer within 3 days.

Re: 4R100 transmissions - tip of the iceberg

My trany was ordered by the dealer on 9/28, still no response from them. F**d (contacted at the 800 number noted above) doesn't know when it will ship.
