5.4 fuel economy ??

Hi -

Considering purchasing a Superduty 4 x 4 regular cab long box with the 5.4 V8. What can I expect for fuel economy in city and highway?

Thanks !

Re: 5.4 fuel economy ??

well i've only had my F-250 SD CC SB 4x4 5.4 auto for a week now and have 1300 miles on her. I am averaging about 12-13 MPG. But hey who buys a Super Duty for fuel economy?!!!

Re: 5.4 fuel economy ??

My signature truck gets a low of ~10 during winter commuting, and up to 16 empty on the highway. I would expect your 4x4 might cost you about 1 mpg or so.

Re: 5.4 fuel economy ??

hajovna,

My experience is with E350 12/15 passenger wagons with the 5.4l V8 and 3.55 axle so this doesn't directly apply but here it goes.

My 2001 E350 12 pass. has gotten 13.1 mpg over the 7600 miles that I have owned it. On the most recent highway only trip it got 16.3 mpg @ 70 mph.

On a recent vacation in Tennessee I rented a 15 pass. wagon and in 360 miles of mixed driving it got 13.2 mpg. And on a 205 mile highway run @ 75+ mph it got 15.0 mpg (eight passengers and all of our luggage). Average on the vacation was 13.8 mpg. The van had ~10,000 miles on it.

Hope this helps.

Re: 5.4 fuel economy ??

I have a 2001 F250 SC 4x4 with the 5.4 and 4.10 rear and a 5sp. Before my first oil change I was getting 14.5 no matter what I did. This last fill up was 15.5 though. All highway I can get about 16.5

Re: 5.4 fuel economy ??

I can't seem to get more than 12.5 mi/gal out of my truck (in signature block). It only has about 4000 miles on it but it should be broke in pretty good by now. I wish I new how some folks get 15-16 mi/gal. I'm not whining though. I didn't buy a Super Duty to get good gas mileage. Anybody who does should probably get their head examined.
