5.4 litre timing rattle?

Hello all, I picked myself up a 2002 f-250 superduty with a 5.4 litre last week. Shes a high miler with over 150k's on her. I thought I'd do a test run up a long incline while towing my 4000 lb trailer and lo and behold a rattle showed up. It certainly sounded as though it came from the valve train but I'd like as much info as I can get in diagnosing. Any ideas? Valve lash adjustment, replace the timing chain, or both perhaps? Any other ideas or comments?
