5.4 motor problems

I buddy told me about this site. So I,m going to tell you about my problem. I have a 05 250 superduty 4X4 with 11k on it. I drained the oil, then found out I did not have a filter on hand so I picked one up the next day and finished the job. Now the truck idles fine pressure is normal. rev it up and it starts stalling and clattering. any thoughts????. When it idles down its normal again. Been thinking of calling ford to come and get it as it is still under warranty.

Re: 5.4 motor problems

Couple of the most common things I saw were injectors, cam phasers, & lifters causing engine noise. There was a TSB out regarding the phasers & lifters, and the first 3 valve trucks had problems with injectors sticking open, but that usually hydrolocked the engine bending a rod as long as the conditions were right. Another possibility is there were some issues early on with the throttle body assembly. As you said, you are still under warranty so I would let the dealer take care of it.
