Re: 5.4 or V-10 MPG

A friend of mine switched from a 2000 extended cab 2wd F250 V8 to a 2003 F250 crew cab 2wd V10. "Normal" driving and trailering 8K, he averages 1mpg less with the V10 than he did with the V8. Towing power is a night and day difference. He's told me many times he will never go back to an 8, the 10 tows so much better. I'm on my 3rd V-10, it's the only choice for me as well. My 2006 only has 2K on it so it's still breaking in. It would blow the doors off the 99 I had, and is already getting the same or slightly better mpg than the 99 did. If it gets better after about 6K as a lot of people are saying, I will be even happier than I already am with the truck.

Re: 5.4 or V-10 MPG

Lifetime avg for my 2v V10 3.73LS is 12.5 mpg in 38K miles. As high as 16.5 with all highway driving, as low as 10.5 with city towing. I've logged every drop of fuel since it was new.
