5.4 With Weird Startup Issue

Appreciate any insight ya'll can provide.

Here are the symptoms

On startup all gauges peg all the way to the right and then eventually come back to where they need to be. It's never done this before.

Another symptom that has started lately is that intermittently while driving down the road the tach will increase but I get no more engine power. This isn't consistent and unlike when a clutch is going it doesn't seem to be getting worse it just happens every once in a while under no similar circumstance.

Thanks for the help.

Re: 5.4 With Weird Startup Issue

Sounds like an issue where there could be a large enough power drain for the power to the truck to be cut off. this has happened when i left a power inverter plugged into the cig lighter all night.. then when you get back in . and turn the key on. the gauges go through a reset procedure..

but this happening while you are driving with just the tach.?

possible bad reg in alt nater. or outside source. a strong rf field will make the tach jump. cell phone , poor sheilding on cb antenna feed. or other transmiting type radio..

I will look into this further..
