Re: 96 F-150 with no heat?????

Are you saying he isn't getting any coolant flow through the heater hoses? And he replaced the core? That's a weird one. If you're just feeling to see if the hoses get hot, keep in mind that it can take some time for that to happen. My 302 has to go a good mile or two before you get anything resembling heat.

On the head gasket theory; is it exhibiting any of the common signs of a blown head gasket? White smoke, coolant in oil, oil in coolant, lack of power, running rough?

I know the vans have a problem with the blend door binding up and getting stuck. I would check for that, double check for flow/restrictions/improper hook up in the coolant hoses, and then if that didn't solve the problem I might explore head gaskets and coolant passages.

Anyway, what's he need heat for now? It's like June already.

Re: 96 F-150 with no heat?????

Correct no coolant flow, hoses don't get hot.Yes he replaced the core.No other symptoms really,I looked in the overflow and there isn't any black stuff. He's been without heat all winter and it's still a little cool up here in the mountains of western Md.I think it's a flow problem,I guess I'll check it out some more this weekend.Thought maybe one of you Ford guys(I'm a Mopar guy )had seen this before. Thanks for the help though..Doug
