99 V-10 missing under load

Need some ideas of where to look, instead of just throwing the kitchen sink at it right away. Under load when accelerating, starts missing, but not all the time. Truck only has about 57,000 miles on it. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!

Is the check engine light on?
My guess is you have a coil problem on one of the cylinders.
A real common problem with these engines.

Cheapest thing first would be to check the chip. Put it back to stock and see if the miss is still there. If so, then I'd guess it's a coil pack failing.

Mastertech,
The check engine light is not on. I had heard about the coil problems with the 5.4's, but not the V10's. The plugs, wires etc, have never been changed either. Would you recommend that? Or, do the coil first and leave it alone?
Thanks.

The V-10's are prone to the same problems, they use the same coil setup.
If you haven't already done so, pull the coils out and look for corrosion and moisture on the coils.
