aftermarket products vs. warranties
Will adding aftermarket products void warranties? The answer is a definite NO. Federal law prohibits a dealer from voiding your warranty just because you are using aftermarket equipment. However there are exceptions: The warranty can be voided if the aftermarket part causes damage or adversely affects the emissions or the emissions system. (Magnusson-Moss Warranty Improvement Act of 1975) This information came from the April 2000 issue of RV View magazine.
Now for an update on my Banks Ottomind power module that didn't let my V-10 start under 30 degree F. Jeff from Banks called and told me to ship the unit back to Banks for an exchange with an updated power module. Banks people found the problem to be a shipment of faulty components. Not all power modules were like mine. Banks deserves to be commended for looking into and finding the cause. For those who don't know, I have a 2000 Class C RV with the V-10 with the Banks PowerPack, Transcommand and Ottomind plus other upgrades to the suspension.
