Re: AIC for v10 van ??

Never heard of such a critter from the factory- gas engines don't need it. Best bet is to get a good digital tach from Jegs or Summit. Might also try a salvage for a van dash that has the OEM tach.

AIC for v10 van ??

I had to cross over from the 94-97 diesel site for this one, my buddy just bought a v10 motorhome that uses the van body and we are looking to put a tach in it, I am wondering if the AIC unit is available for v10 or not , I thought this would make a great tach and have teh full benefit of the AIC to boot, plus its a factory piece.
Thanks for all your help
Craig

Re: AIC for v10 van ??

Unfortunately, there is no V-10 van existing that is equipped with an OEM tachometer, so a trip to the junk yards will be a fruitless search in vains. (get it? in vans/vain... ok I just felt compelled to make SURE you got the pun... somehow, it's not as funny now as when I thought of it )

And, unfortnuately, Ford's AIC is only available for the 7.3L diesel engine. No such module is made for the V10, in either a van or a truck.

Nice idea though... and it's been thought of (and asked) many times before.

I'd like to know how folks are hooking up aftermarket tachs to V10's in the E-Series. Magnet sensors on the balancer? Or some electronic circuit? If so, which one?

When I was searching for a tach for my E-Series V10 three or four years ago, there was NO tach available in the aftermarket calibratied for a V10 engine. Furthermore, since there is no main "coil" wire on the iginition system, none of the other tachs on the market seemed to cleanly interface with the V10 in the van (which doesn't have a factory tach, unlike the trucks, which do). I gave up the search, but would gladly join in again if there was any change in aftermarket availability over the last few years.
