My wife bought a 2001 21 foot Starflyte by Dynamax motorhome with a V10 about a year ago. We made our first long trip with it this winter. Colorado to North Carolina to Florida Keys to Texas and back home. The motorhome is molded fiberglass and has reasonably good aerodynamics. It weighed in at registration at exactly 9000 pounds with tanks dry and no gear loaded. We probably were near 10,000 with passengers and gear. The trip totaled very near 5500 miles and fuel mileage came to 10.9 MPG average for the whole trip. Start of the trip showed 12,000 miles on the odometer. I am using Mobil 1 5W30 and it had about 2000 miles on the oil at start of the trip. I had to add one quart just before leaving Florida. Power was more than adequate at all times.
As you can see by my signature I am a diesel man but the MH had a V10 and it ws the one my wife wanted. While the V10 takes significantly more fuel and isn't close on power compared to my diesel I find it to be a very pleasant engine and its fuel mileage is very respectable for a gas engine.
