Auto Trans Failure???

It seems a lot of Ford PS Diesel have auto trans failures, from reading the trailering post. This is especially true if used for heavy towing, probably over limit. Is this true for V 10 gas, or it just a diesel and diesel torque problem?

Mine went out after towing my 5000# camper about 50 miles to the lake and back. The temperature was in the 70's, and I was taking it easy since this was my first tow in it. My Ex has the V-10 with 3.73.
The dealer just replaced it with a brand new one and sent the old one off to engineering. I never heard about the actual cause of the failure.
I was upset at Ford for this happening and then "highly upset" for never contacting me about why it happened. No more problems with the replacement.
