I have a 99 V10 E350 cargo van as well as my PSDs. Last week I noticed a little tap or clicking kind of noise. Made a appointment for today at 1:00pm. Unfortunatley today at 7:00am something blew. I thought the noise sounded a little like a exhaust leak yesterday. Well this morning one of the spark plugs blew right out of the head taking the coil with it. I had it towed in , when the tech called he said they ordered a new head (WOW). My van only has 48k miles on it. Has anyone else heard of this happening? The mechanic said it was the first V10 he has seen this on but alot of 5.4s have come in like that. I'm glad I have the extended warranty.

A buddy of mine has a Toyota 4x4 and the Bosch spark plug in it lost its core down the cylinder and tore up his motor six months ago, but that's as close as I've heard to your problem.
Sounds like the threads stripped out in the head????? Ouch
Wonder if the CH**Y Duramaxipad might also suffer this fate in the future with aluminum heads??

My pick-up also lost a plug. The fourth one back on the right side. They told me that they had done two others V10s this year. They also replaced the head and all.

Here we go again with the name calling.....
My V10 blew also, mine was a little different, they replaced the whole motor....the dealership also said that they replace a lot of the 5.4's but not a whole lot of the V10..guess we were the lucky ones..
Hey Drew, I have a clicking/tapping sound in my 2001 v10 and it's been there since day one. Have 7000 miles on the van now and just stopped taking it back to the dealer. They say it is exhaust related, but it sounds like the engine to me. Maybe sometime between now and the next 29,000 miles mine will blow! If not, they are going to fix it before warrenty is up. My niose is a mini diesel sound. Every now and then I get a louder crack sound. The engine pulls well and has lots of power. Just got the noise.
