Buying a '99 reg cab 4X4 with the 5.4???

Well my father-in-law is looking at buying a truck off of a guy he knows. It's an early '99 reg cab 4X4 XLT 5.4L auto 73,000 miles with a 3.73 and he thinks limited slip. It sounds like he can get it bought for $11,500. What do you guys think of the power of the 5.4L I use to have a '99 F250LD but it had the higher output 260hp 5.4L where as the superduty still got the 235hp version. The HO version was adequate for the F250LD but I was wondering how you guys faired in the super duties. He owns a lawn spraying business and this will be used to do some towing of trailerswith equipment (nothing overly heavy) and hauling fertilize on pallets. I imagine it would be fine, but he'll be getting rid of a '92 chevy with a 350 and I don't want him to be disapointed with the power of this 5.4 versus a 350 chevy. Sorry for a lengthy post. I'm just trying to pick your brains. Thanks guys! Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Re: Buying a '99 reg cab 4X4 with the 5.4???

I have driven a few of them for a company I used to work for, they use them for towing a #14,000 excavator!! That doesn't mean I would do it, but it will get the job done, albeit not very quickly. I do think that it would have more power than the '92 chev you described..O, and BTW, I don't know about your area, but that truck could be had for much less here in western Oregon.
