To chip or not.

I decided to keep my 99 V10. I have already installed a Banks Stinger system. Would like to install a "chip". Anyone have an idea what would work good with this system? Do you have to burn premium after adding the chip? I have heard both yes and no to this question. Anyone with first hand knowledge? The stinger system helped, but never have to much power. Any advice would be appreciated.

Re: To chip or not.

V10T,

I have a Banks PowerPack and a SuperChip on my 2000 V-10.

I love the Banks and the SuperChip. I went with the SuperChip mainly to "fix" the soft transmision shifts, but also liked the idea of the improved performance to along with the Banks Headers.

Unless you have a custom SuperChip programed you will have to run 92 or better octane fuel. If you have a chip programed to continue running the 87 octane fuel you will see very little performance/power improvements.

My SuperChip'ed/Bank'ed V-10 is getting 8% better MPG's (as long as I keep my foot out of it, so the fuel cost per mile is about equal. It will never pay for the Chiup and exhaist, but I din't expect it to.

You can check out some of my info at the following links: http://ic.net/~wawii/banks/ http://ic.net/~wawii/Dyno/ http://ic.net/~wawii/MPG/
