Factory Defects in TF Case

I bought my 99' F250 SD SC SB 4x4 v10 with 30k miles on it and after only two trips through unstable terrain in 4x4, my T case went out. It would engage and work sufficiently, but if I was moving and disengaged, 2 seconds of silence, then KRRRRRRKINK KINK KINK! This spine tingling noise would continue for 5 to 7 seconds before T case disengaged. My dad sent me to a Tranny shop even though I told him we should take it to the dealership. But NO! It was used and he said they would screw us over. So now I am $1000 poorer cause it had to be rebuilt. They said the gears had burrs left on them from factory machines. Any body else having problems with their T cases?

Re: Factory Defects in TF Case

If it only had 30,000 miles on it why didn't you take it to a dealership?

Re: Factory Defects in TF Case

ditto, plenty of warranty left. I bought mine used and have taken it back for free work. The warranty is for the vehicle...not the owner.

bummer,
