Re: FLUTTER ANSWER

I don't want to jump into someone else's war, but if you're shifting at 1500 RPM's or 2000 RPM's, than you're not getting the power out of your V10 that your could be getting.

Please don't get me wrong...I am not criticizing your driving, I am simply mentioning that the V10 was designed to rev up into the 4500 RPM range daily...

my 2 cents...

Re: FLUTTER ANSWER

Actually, I get 12-13 MPG on average, and I think I have a steel ball for a foot...the worse I have ever seen in my V10 was 10 MPG when I was pulling about 9000 pounds up into the mountains of Colorado...the only changes from stock (for power) are a K&N air filter, and a Banks Stinger exhaust kit...if that is what keeps my mileage at 12-13 even when I romp on it, then sign me up for two stinger exhaust kits...

Re: FLUTTER ANSWER

Every time I read about someone getting 12 or 13 mpg, it bums me out! I have 750 miles on my ride and am getting like 8.5 or someting...and I'm deliberately driving it like a little ol' lady (no offense to any little ol' ladies out there )to get any more mpg out of it I can. What's up with that...

Re: FLUTTER ANSWER

My first tank was 13.25 mpg and the second was 12.4 mixed driving with a bad habit of putting my foot into it to feel the power! (Ya after first 500 miles of course!)

The only thing I can think of, is my truck has 6500 miles on it, and after break in the mileage goes up by a few mpg's...oh yeah, one more thing...I just installed a superchip a week ago and I am still on my first tank, so we shall see what happens to the mileage now...on my 99 V10, it went up by a whopping 1 mpg with the superchip...

BEATING ON IT AND TRYING TO KILL IT ARE TWO DIFFERENT THINGS ! I FIND IT LESS JERKY TO SHIFT UNDER 3200 WHERE THE POWER SEEMS TO FADE,BUT A 4 GRAND SLAM IS ALWAYS TONS OF FUN

In all actuality, I have been shifting in the 3300-3800 RPM range on average, with the jump into the 4500 RPM range for fun...

I have the same truck as you with the exception of a 3.73ls. My first highway trip I got 16.677. Now with 2,000 miles I am getting 11-13 around town and 14-16 highway. I think the 4.30 makes a significant difference, but that's just my 2 cents. Hope it get's better for ya.
