Flutter Posts HERE only!! As of 10/21/00

Here's an idea, guys (or gals) :

We have five threads open about the same topic. Lets use this one and let the other ones fizzle away! I just asked webigon to post this new part number in a reply on one thread, and then found that question already asked on another -

Unless there are any objections........

You get an "A" for effort.

On a side note I believe there should be a rule that when anyone says they found a replacement part number MUST pass on the number. Or not post until they get it. I'm still waiting for this new Y pipe number. And yes I have the flutter, buzz, whatever sound at 2100-2300 while shifting. I don't notice it at highway speeds at the same rpm.

PLEASE!!

webigon says...
"Guys, the part # for the new Y pipe: 1C3Z5246AA He said you will also need a "nut kit" and a new gasket but that info should come up when you plug in the new part #. He said that visually it looks a lot different. I have not seen it yet but he said that the crazy bend is gone!"

Ha Ha!

I guess the part number IS real! I've got one on order now but I'm going to be skeptical right up to the time I take my first post-install test ride. My Lemon Law case is still on file at the Dept. of Commerce.

On a side note, my local Chev dealer got a 2001 HD Silverado Crew Cab w/8.1 litre and the Allison tranny - I drove it, and all I can say is, F--D better think of something to improve quickly or there going to loose a big share of this market. I'm seriously considering ordering one!

I can't wait to start posting about something other than this damn 'flutter'!

Re: Flutter Posts HERE only!! As of 10/21/00

I picked my '01 V10 up on 10/23. It had a build week of 10/02. I can say that I do hear what sounds like the flutter. It is not that bad. I can actually live with it. It sounds exactly like what everybody describes...a ticking or pinging type sound right around 2500 r's, and it does sound like an air blast hitting a thin walled steel tube. From the discussions about it, I thought it would be MUCH bigger in it's presence. It disappears with the radio at minimal levels . I don't have any other V10 to compare mine to so maybe something has been done to lessen the affect in the newer 01's. Any part that replaces the existing Y-pipe will be a snap to install. Where's webegons report?
