Ford warranty question

I am writing this in hope that someone out there may be able to offer suggestions as to who to contact at Ford. We have a 2001 F350 with a gas engine (5.8). It have 37000 miles and just blew the engine when a valve spring broke. The dealer is replacing the engine with a new one for $5000. Our thinking is that this engine failed due to a faulty part that in no way could be attributed to vehicle maintenance. I suppose that you could say I raced the engine and broke the spring, but this is a work truck and I am 45 year old...racing days have passed.

So, I am trying to get some help from Ford, the dealer says the regional service advisor will not allow the claim, however, they will not give us anybody to talk to higher up. So....anybody have email addresses of officers of the company or board of directors. I find it very hard to believe how these people are hiding. thank you

Re: Ford warranty question

I assume you mean it has a 5.4L - there weren't any 5.8's in F series trucks 2001.

Technically you're out of warranty on both measures, time and mileage. 2001 had 3 yrs or 36K miles, whichever came first. Unless you bought the truck as a leftover in 2002 sometime you've gone over on the time requirement, and at 37K you're just barely out of the mileage requirement.

If you were within the 3 years you'd probably have more luck getting a dealer to help you out, even with 37K on the truck. Some dealers will help you out anyway, especially for items that are known problems, but valve problems on a 5.4 are pretty rare. You may be on your own with this one.

I don't have any contact information for you, but someone will probably chime in on this thread soon with some names to call.

Good luck.
