fuel mileage question

What fuel mileage would I reasonably expect (city and hwy) with a '08 F-250 4x4 4.11 axle and a V-10? Do I read the info right that no 3.73 is available with the V-10 in '08?

Re: fuel mileage question

Empty expect 14-15 MPG. Loaded anywhere around 8-10 depending on the load you are pulling. City driving will net you alittle worse mileage than the above posted.
If you are going to do any real pulling/hauling you may want to opt for the 4:30 LS rear end. Mileage will not be any real difference, but the truck will have more grunt.
And yes the 3:73 is no more.

Re: fuel mileage question

My '08 V10 get's 14.5MPG highway, 10MPG city (stop and go etc.). I have not towed enough to get a figure for that yet but I expect 10 or less MPG.

My 95 F350 with a V8 460 got 10MPG city 13-14MPG highway and 10MPG towing. This V10 looks like MPG will be about the same as the 460 but with more power. (The 460 has a 3.55 rear and the V10 a 4.10)

Re: fuel mileage question

My '08 F-350, V8 with 4:10's gets about 14.3 hwy, I don't do any city driving and haven't gotten a chance to tow yet. I'm thinking that 9-10mpg towing sounds about right.

[/ QUOTE ] I hang out on both site's,the other one www.fordtruckenthusiasts.com has a forum called -V10 the heavy duty modular, might want to slide over for a look, the owner's of the V10 recomend using the 4.30 rear end as the gaser's power curve is at a higher RPM than a diesel's,also the plug blow out issue was fixed after 2003, I love my 7.3 but after reading on both site's the last 4 year's about the 6.0 and now reading about the issue's with the 08's from "all 3 brand's" and our goverment putting their NOSE in the diesel's who need's it and I started in 1986 with a 6.9/got a 1990 with a 7.3 IDIand had it 12 year's !!, my baby a 2002 7.3 will be the last one,my wife just bought a 2007 expedtion eddie bower with the 5.4 with power every thing, the diffrence between that and her 10 year old explorer sport is nite and day,you need 150,000 mile's a year out of a diesel to justify the cost of the engine/15 qt oil change/ungodly priced fuel filter's/same for oil filter's and issue's that our goverment is causing with diesel's/dpf's,egr's ect, again I love mine but it's the last one, your making a good move over to gas.
